Improving Reality Through Understanding

Protean Industries is a geospatial robotics & surveying company. Protean focuses on planetary science and technology analog research. We leverage computer science, remote sensing, and 3D printing for spatial analytics, geospatial robotics development, & sensor innovation. We seek to provide our clients with omni-environmental mapping access via products & services within our geographic information science & technology (GIST) toolkit. Protean Industries aims to provide influential virtual reality, robotics, sensor systems, geodatabases, 3D imaging, & prototyping solutions.

Definition of Protean (pronounced pro·te·an)

  1. displaying great diversity

  2. highly versatile

  3. having a varied nature or ability to assume different forms

  4. of or resembling Proteus

Proteus, the prophetic old man of the sea & shepherd of the seas in Greek mythology. He was subject to Poseidon, his dwelling place was either the island of Pharos, or between Crete & Rhodes. Proteus knew all things—past, present, and future—but disliked divulging what he knew. Those who wished to consult him had first to surprise and bind him during his noonday slumber. Even when caught he would try to escape by assuming all sorts of shapes. But if his captor held him fast, he returned to his proper shape, gave the wished-for answer, and plunged into the sea. He came to be regarded by some as a symbol of the original matter from which the world was created because assumed whatever shape he pleased. The word protean, meaning “changeable in shape or form,” is derived from Proteus.

Goal

To promote the next generation of scientific discovery in our Solar system for human exploration and development of space through robotics, surveying, spatial analysis, and geospatial applications development.

By utilizing cave diving environments on Earth we can test, develop, and produce mapping equipment, technologies, and solutions that are robust for survival, disaster response, and research.

We seek to provide our clients with the ability to access environments that would traditionally have been restricted to major universities via toolkits, products, and services within geographic information science and technology (GIST). We aim to provide user-intuitive virtual reality (VR) simulations, geospatial robotics, sensor systems, geodatabases, and 3-dimensional printed models to influence education, science fields, environmental policy, & problem-solving consultations.

We aim to leverage new technologies, and large market influence scales on sectors that protect, facilitate improvement, or more efficiently conserve resources, environments, ecosystems, and humanitarian needs against consumer costs via a technology-quality-chain overlapping within GIST, education, environmental reporting, scientific exploration, and layperson information accessibility.
